Only one week (give or take a day) until we hit the road for Lajes. We recently found out that instead of a leisurely 6 hour plane ride from Wichita to Baltimore, we will be taking a 25+ hour, 1700 mile drive. Commercial airlines won't take pets as checked luggage if it's over 85 degrees, and we just aren't willing to take that chance. We might be a little bit crazy, but we don't want to take this trip without our dogs, Sam and Roxie.
The route is all planned out... Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virgina, Virgina, Washington, DC, and, finally, Maryland. We could have done it faster, but what's the fun in seeing places you've already been? This route checks six states off our "too see" list. Can't beat that!

ReplyDeleteWow. That is a serious road trip. But hey I'd do the same thing for my pup. Looking at the map if you get thirsty we have Fox & Hound's or Bailey's in every one of those states except West Virginia. Cold beer on tap at every one of them!
ReplyDeleteWe'll keep that in mind Chad - we have the pet friendly hotels and now beer under control. I think we'll make it!!
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
